Duration
1 day
Group size
4-18
Difficulty
1/5
Minimum age
6+

Overview

Float in the cold waters of Kola Bay while a specialist immersion suit keeps you dry, insulated, and buoyant. You do not need to know how to swim. The water session lasts up to 40 minutes and is supervised by an experienced guide, followed by hot tea indoors and a set lunch in Murmansk.

The excursion is rated 1 out of 5 for difficulty and accommodates groups of 4-18, including children from age 6. However, the suits fit participants who are at least 150 cm tall. Age alone does not guarantee a safe fit, so confirm each participant's height before booking.

Contact Clubok for an available session and a written quote. We can arrange this as a standalone outing or as part of your wider Russia trip.

Clubok handles the local transfers, supervised activity and halal lunch. Tell us if you would like us to arrange a longer stay around this experience.

Meeting and travel

Clubok collects you from your accommodation or an agreed meeting point in central Murmansk around 10:00 and returns you after the excursion, usually around 14:00. We arrange the transfer to Kola Bay and coordinate the activity schedule with the guide.

If you are visiting from another Russian city, we can build this experience into a complete Clubok trip and arrange domestic connections, airport pickup, accommodation and meals for the agreed stay. These arrangements are itemised in that trip's quote; the standalone excursion covers the local experience only.

Your day-by-day journey

1Day 1 - Ice floating in Kola Bay

Leave central Murmansk at about 10:00. On arrival at the bay, the team selects your equipment and helps you into the immersion suit. A safety briefing is scheduled from approximately 10:50 to 11:05. The suit must fit securely, so every participant must be at least 150 cm tall.

From about 11:10 to 11:50, float in Kola Bay under the guide's supervision. The buoyant suit supports you in the water, so swimming ability is not required. After changing, warm up with tea indoors from around 11:50 to 12:10.

At approximately 13:00, have a set lunch at a Murmansk restaurant. The excursion finishes around 14:00, followed by drop-off at your accommodation in Murmansk. All times are approximate and must be reconfirmed for the selected date.

Accommodation

No overnight stay is needed for this half-day experience. For a longer visit, Clubok arranges your Murmansk accommodation and adds the agreed nights and meals to your complete-trip quote.

  • Immersion suit and the equipment needed for up to 40 minutes of supervised floating.
  • Hot tea indoors and a halal lunch at a Murmansk restaurant.
  • English- and Arabic-speaking guide support, plus 24/7 WhatsApp assistance. Remote routes may have limited connectivity.

Budget separately

These costs are not covered by the tour price. Optional activities are your choice.

  • Souvenirs, personal purchases and upgrades you choose outside the agreed quote.

What to pack

  • Wear thin thermal underwear and socks beneath the immersion suit. Fleece thermal layers and warm socks may help if you are sensitive to cold.
  • Bring a towel, spare thermal underwear, and spare socks in case a small amount of water enters during active movement.
  • The suit is worn without outdoor clothing, shoes, or a hat. A thin balaclava may be suitable; confirm this with the guide.
  • Tie long hair low at the back of the head so it does not interfere with the suit.
  • Bring weather-appropriate winter clothing for the transfers and time ashore, plus your travel documents.
  • Guests visibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not permitted to participate.
  • Tell the coordinator about food allergies before the excursion and confirm what dietary adjustments can be provided.
